Transcarpathia.
Geographical position and territory-climatic
performance.
Transcarpathia is one from the most picturesque places of Ukraine, is
located on southwest slopes of Carpathians and bounds with Poland, Slovakia,
Hungary and Romania. On territory of area there is a geographical centre
of Europe. From north, east and the south frame Transcarpathia Carpathian
mountains, from west the output(exit) on the Danube valley is opened.
The Carpathian mountains on the structure and many conditions are similar
to the Alpes. They also are covered with woods and Alpine meadows, in
valleys - abundance of the rivers and lakes (9429 rivers and springs).
The mountains are covered with the coniferous and mixed woods. A highest
mountain of Carpathians - Hoverla. It height exceeds 2000 meters above
a sea level. Due to the geographical position Transcarpathia under the
right is considered as western gate of Ukraine. The square of territory
of Transcarpathia makes 12,8 thousands of square kilometers, or 2,1 %
of territory of Ukraine. The woods, which are the greatest riches of an
edge, take more than 50 % of territory. Average temperature of an air
in the summer - +21° C, winter - -4° C. A climate moderate - continental.
The population of Transcarpathia is very diverse. Here most diverse on a national structure company. The population of area by little exceeds 1 million the person among which there are representatives of such peoples: Ukrainians, Germans, Slovaks, Poles, Hungarians, Romanians, Russian, Gypsys, Jews, Tatarians, Armenians etc.
The economy of Transcarpathia essentially differs from economy of Ukraine as a whole. The main reason of differences is a geographical disposition and natural environments. On unique landscapes of Transcarpathia would be not reasonable to place ecological dangerous and bulky productions. It is an edge of tourism and mineral waters. Priorities of economy of area are easy and food-processing industry, tourism and resort business. On territory of area a huge amount of mineral sources and sanatoriums, functioning on their basis(on the basis of). The important branch is the production and prepacking of mineral water. This business is one from most profitable and переспективных and brings to economy of Transcarpathia considerable arrived. On territory of area the gold-mine industry develops also. In a village Muzhievo of Beregovo district a deposit of gold recently is open and the first ingots are already obtained. But despite of all successes, Transcarpathia as never requires the investments of the capital, first of all in an sphere of tourism. Having a huge potential in this sphere of activity, Transcarpathia be not capable to supply(ensure) independently due rates of growth. For engaging the investments in area the free economic zone is created, which conditions promote an investment of means in Transcarpathian economy.
